About the Speaker:
Liana Fix is a senior fellow for Europe at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). She is leading the Securing Ukraine’s Future Initiative at the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a historian and political scientist, and a leading authority on European security, transatlantic relations, Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as European China policy. Dr. Fix is the author of Germany Rearmed: The Return of War and the End of Illusions (Hurst, 2026). Together with Michael Kimmage, she is the co-author of the widely read “Ukraine Scenarios” series in Foreign Affairs. Dr. Fix is also the author of A New German Power? Germany’s Role in European Russia Policy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021). She is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University in the Center for German and European Studies and the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies, and has lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Berlin, London, Moscow, Tbilisi, and Tours.
